Coming for Dinner, Staying for Breakfast (#10)

S T A Y I N G  F O R  B R E A K F A S T - July 28, 2005
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Staying for Breakfast, Coming for Dinner's newsletter.

For those of you not signed up to the Coming for Dinner MyYahoo! feed, maybe you missed out on the fact that Coming for Dinner turned one year old last weekend. Yep, on July 23, 2004, at 2:04am PDT, the site launched. And holy crap has a lot of stuff happened since then: over 300 people signed up to the newsletter, over 8000 unique visitors, Yahoo!'s "New & Notable Site" on August 12, 2004; I've catered a wedding in Tuscany, catered a New Year's Eve party in SF, started managing the bar at the historic Purple Onion, and have a food magazine article being published in September. Now if I can just get those breakfast pans some action, it'll all be good.

In celebration of Coming for Dinner's one-year anniversary, here are some of the more popular recipes on the site.

EGGPLANT PARMESEAN:
The number one searched for and viewed recipe. And pretty tasty, to boot.

THE BEST POTATO SALAD IN THE WORLD
World domination by way of starch, bacon, mayo, and chives.

MARINATED AHI TUNA:
One of my favorites, and apparently one of yours. And pretty much guaranteed to get you some.

AND THE PURPLE ONION WINS "BEST OF THE BAY"!
That's right - the bar that I've been managing, The Purple Onion, just won The San Francisco Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay 2005 for "Best Back-from-the-Dead Nightclub"! If you're in the North Beach area on Friday (July 29) night, around 9:30pm, you should come on down - we've got some great live music, with Pete Duggan and Guy Jackson. Hope to see some of you down there.
